Don't grow up to be trashy. She looks like she's on the right track to growing up and keeping some of her dignity, lets keep it that way, young lady.

oops

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 1
I think I did something bad today. I opened a Victoria Secret credit card and then proceeded to buy 3 pairs of shoes. In my defense, they were like 70% off.

These are them.

Mom, if you're reading this....sorry.

Cute dress, Paris.

away with the analog presidents and in with the Digital!

Thursday, January 22, 2009 0

Of course this administration needs to have a White House Blog. Obama can't quit using the devices he applied to his campaign to get him elected, that would make him a little phony and his promises for change shallow.

You really need to go to the site yourself, but for those of you who don't feel like it, at least read the first post below.

Change has come to WhiteHouse.gov
Welcome to the new WhiteHouse.gov. I'm Macon Phillips, the Director of New Media for the White House and one of the people who will be contributing to the blog.

A short time ago, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States and his new administration officially came to life. One of the first changes is the White House's new website, which will serve as a place for the President and his administration to connect with the rest of the nation and the world.

Millions of Americans have powered President Obama's journey to the White House, many taking advantage of the internet to play a role in shaping our country's future. WhiteHouse.gov is just the beginning of the new administration's efforts to expand and deepen this online engagement.

Just like your new government, WhiteHouse.gov and the rest of the Administration's online programs will put citizens first. Our initial new media efforts will center around three priorities:

Communication -- Americans are eager for information about the state of the economy, national security and a host of other issues. This site will feature timely and in-depth content meant to keep everyone up-to-date and educated. Check out the briefing room, keep tabs on the blog (RSS feed) and take a moment to sign up for e-mail updates from the President and his administration so you can be sure to know about major announcements and decisions.

Transparency -- President Obama has committed to making his administration the most open and transparent in history, and WhiteHouse.gov will play a major role in delivering on that promise. The President's executive orders and proclamations will be published for everyone to review, and that’s just the beginning of our efforts to provide a window for all Americans into the business of the government. You can also learn about some of the senior leadership in the new administration and about the President’s policy priorities.

Participation -- President Obama started his career as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago, where he saw firsthand what people can do when they come together for a common cause. Citizen participation will be a priority for the Administration, and the internet will play an important role in that. One significant addition to WhiteHouse.gov reflects a campaign promise from the President: we will publish all non-emergency legislation to the website for five days, and allow the public to review and comment before the President signs it.

We'd also like to hear from you -- what sort of things would you find valuable from WhiteHouse.gov? If you have an idea, use this form to let us know. Like the transition website and the campaign's before that, this online community will continue to be a work in progress as we develop new features and content for you. So thanks in advance for your patience and for your feedback.

Later today, we’ll put up the video and the full text of President Obama’s Inaugural Address. There will also be slideshows of the Inaugural events, the Obamas’ move into the White House, and President Obama’s first days in office.

Intellectual property, meh

Monday, January 19, 2009 0

I'm not a fan of intellectual property rights, so I like this-thought I'd share it.
I got the quotation from one of my favorite blogs SwissMiss.

Chanel would make a Guillotine

I bet it was Karl Lagerfeld's idea too.

Gummy in my Tummy

Sunday, January 18, 2009 0
I am a candy fiend. I have candy in various drawers and niches around my apartment and usually have some on me in the depths of my purse. I can't help it; it's probably drastically increasing my chances for diabetes, but I don't care- I can quit any time, seriously. Leave it to Apartment Therapy to satisfy my lust for design and candy at the same time.

Somedays, I just love the internet. There are so many things I would never see without it. Please don't ever leave me.

Wedding

Thursday, January 15, 2009 0
Sean and I went to a wedding for one of his friends last weekend and I had a great time. I just wanted to post a few things I liked from it. Around their cake they had these hanging tea light candles in little glass globes. It look gorgeous, and I thought it would be great to go even farther with these and just have them all over the ceiling like stars. These little guys on top of their cake were pretty cute. I'd never seen any real variation on the little cake toppers before, good idea. These guys were 2/3 of Kat's Meow. They were a great acoustic jazz band who live here in Austin. Kat, the lead singer, has the voice of a seductive 10 year old, if you can imagine that. She is equal parts precious and sultry. I'd really like to catch them in Austin soon.

Street pajamas

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 0

This is my sneakier, less professional, and creepier version of The Sartorialist. This girl was workin these pants in a comfy slacker sort of way, I guess. I don't know if those are pajama pants or real pants, but(from the back at least) they looked cool, very casually stylish.

Ever been towed?

Friday, January 9, 2009 0
Everyone has a coming of age story about how they were unfairly towed. I, of course, have been screwed a time or two by seedy towing companies. Texas Towing Compliance is an organization trying to put a stop to illegal towing in Austin. They say "your chances of being charged an unauthorized fee by the wrecker driver in a parking lot in Austin is extremely high" and you there are several things you can do to get out of paying them any money. Apparently there is only one sign that is acceptable and legal to tow your car if it's present. All of these below are illegal.

I don't think they give a picture of the legal one, but there are several more pictures of illegal signs and things to watch out for. It's a pretty helpful site. You should check it out.

Shopping on S. Congress

Wednesday, January 7, 2009 0
My good friend Whitney from was in town last week visiting-she just got back from studying in Italy for the semester (She brought me a Roberto Cavalli coke, too!) One thing we both love to do when she comes to visit is go down to South Congress. In general it's really one of my favorite places to shop, but even better to do it with a friend who appreciates the oddities of SoCo as much as I do. I mean to take along me camera every time I venture down there and this time I remembered. :)

Even though I can't really afford to buy much right now, I always have a nice time looking because most of the stores are decorated so kitchy. I love a well designed boutique.

A couple of items to add to my wish list, you know, and my dream apartments on Congress.

Pictures from: Feather Boutique, Goodie Two shoes boutique, Hovercraft boutique and the State House apartment homes :)

Mannequin

Monday, January 5, 2009 0
Is it too late to say Happy New Year? I know, I'm sorry. This is the first moments rest I've had in a good five days. I've had three different groups of company come to Austin in the last five days. I'm sorry for neglecting you. Check out this cool mannequin!
I found this incredibly cool mannequin(that's how you spell it right?)in a thrift store here in Austin. I've been looking for a good mannequin figure to put in my apartment, preferably just a bust form, but this one is so much better than anything I was looking for. As far as I can tell someone made it out of leather and cotton fabric. Color me impressed, I wonder if the thrift store would let go of it.
